The world comes together for International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8 to celebrate women's achievements, reinforce commitment to gender equality, and rally for change.
Women Mean Biz and Metro Bank are pround to collaborate and host a International Women's Day celebration event on 6th March in the City of Bath.
We work in the business world, supporting women in business to a step outside their comfort zone, start a business, grow that business and achieve great things for themselves and the people around them. It's our time to get out of our office/home, come together to talk openly about issues and challenges that women face in the world today. Gender disparity is very evident and we want to support all women and our girls growing up in this world, to create a better and fair world for women.
Join us to #ACCELERATEACTION for Women's equality.
IWD 2025 campaign theme is 'Accelerate Action'. Why is this the theme this year?
At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. That is scary to know we are so far away!
Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
So, together, let's Accelerate Action to speed up the rate of progress worldwide and work together so we can play our part to Accelerate Action for gender equality.
Join Women Mean Biz and Metro Bank, and step forward in solidarity for International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 on March 8 to help #AccelerateAction.

Natasha Goodman – Local Director of Bath and Bristol
"I am Natasha Goodman and have been in banking 30+ years. My journey has been somewhat of a rollercoaster, having had 3 children along the way, with my eldest having quite a severe disability. But throughout all of this, I have managed as a woman to be successful and have a fantastic career spanning across 3 banks. I will tell you more about how I have embraced the challenges that have come my way at our IWD event."
Abi Porter - Adviser & Business owner at Hillis & Porter Financial Planning
"Working in a profession that continues to be dominated by males it couldn’t be more important that I take the opportunity to shout about the importance of Women taking control of their financial destiny and help them feeling empowered to do so.
I’ve educated and empowered myself over the past five years to take bold moves to become a 30 year old award nominated female adviser and business owner in an industry where your average adviser is a male 58 year old.
The theme of this years IWD is to accelerate action. In the UK, as much as 60 per cent of the nation's wealth is expected to be in female hands by 2025, according to the Centre for Economic and Business Research CEBR. Yes, this is fantastic… however we still live in a world where women are not confident managing their money.
I’m looking forward to speaking about how women can take small steps to grow their confidence allowing them to take action this year and accelerate their financial wellbeing."
