AA Editorial Services

I offer proofreading, copywriting and stylistic editing services. These range from writing copy for websites to proofreading and offering stylistic suggestions on CVs and covering letters.

A bit about me...

I'm a mature graduate (class of 2014) with a 1st class BA Hons in English and English language.

Prior to doing my degree I worked for many years in various administration roles for the Swindon-based research councils. Early retirement from that employment gave me the opportunity to do new things whilst waiting to start university; I spent an academic year volunteering with an adult literacy class and followed training programmes for teaching in the life-long learning sector.

During my time at university I gained experience in writing digital copy for the travel sector – for travel companies and for an international airport transfer company. In May 2013 I set up Born again Swindonian, a Swindon-centric blog, which has been very successful during its first year of life amassing a large number of hits and lots of compliments. Additionally it has provided some excellent source material for a travel-writing module I followed in my third year at university and experience in writing in different ‘voices’ – notably an imagined guide-book entry for Swindon’s infamous Magic Roundabout and a literary travelogue based around the West Swindon Sculpture trail.

Recommendations

"I recently worked with Angela on copywriting for one of my projects. The task was quite demanding as it needed to be engaging but with persuasive marketing techniques built in to it. However Angela delivered the texts exactly as I wanted them to be. Angela is an excellent copywriter. She demonstrated the ability to recognise the expectations of the brief, even when not fully expressed by me, and to deliver engaging copy promptly. This, together with her 'can do' attitude and sympathetic, communicative personality makes for a professional who will go the extra mile to get the job done. I enjoyed working with Angela a great deal and I'm looking forward to doing so again in the future"

" initially met Angela through a local business start-up network when I was in the early days of developing High Street Hero. I subsequently needed a second set of eyes to look at the content of my website and identify things that could be improved and so I contacted Angela for a chat. After a couple of detailed conversations Angela came up with a plan of action and as a result, most of the content on my site was written by her. We have remained in contact and Angela a has produced some blog posts, some sales copy and a press release which lead to some positive press exposure. Angela has done some great work but beyond the simple business transaction, she has offered some valuable advice and thoughts on a number of things not related to her core business of copy writing. I continue to work with Angela as the business demands and would recommend her for anyone who needs good quality copy and general business advice - in fact I have and they too have benefited from her professional approach, versatility and quality work."

"Angela wrote a great press release and distributed it for me. She very quickly understood what I wanted to get across and was able to put it into words, which resulted in an article in the local newspaper. She was very thorough and dedicated in getting my article out there. Her work is excellent and I would recommend her to anyone. Fantastic work Angela, Thank you Helen"

"I had the pleasure of working with Angela on a piece of content for my client. Angela was most enthusiastic for the project and produced content that was well written, enjoyable to read and supplied on time. Her research also included going the extra mile (literally) to walk around the subject location. Am looking forward to our next opportunity to work together."

"I was in the process of redesigning the company website and knew the revised copy needed a proofread. I had a short timescale so the job needed to be completed quickly. Angela proofread the copy to the deadline, giving it that all important editorial polish it needed. She also made some very useful suggestions in amending the copy which were implemented. I’m delighted with the results. I have no hesitation in recommending AA editorial services. Brilliant job. Thanks Angela"

"Hi Angela The link is taking me to your page but I can’t see how I would add a recommendation. Please could you post this, adding my name, website and email contact details? Angela of AA Editorial Services recently proofread a semi-autobiographical novel for one of my clients, working quickly and efficiently. The book, ‘Paths' by Joe Ward will be self-published later this year and I hope to work with Angela again soon. Best wishes, Wendy"

"I took the service of AA Editorial Services for proof-reading my PhD thesis. I was awarded PhD without any correction. The proof-reading contributed in achieving that to a certain extent. Although it was the first thesis proof-reading task for Angela Atkinson, she took the courage to do it and I was happy to give her the opportunity. We had a number of telephone discussions and emails before producing the final version of the thesis. Angela met the dateline of ten days and gave 100% effort. I think she now has the experience of proof-reading a PhD thesis and can offer other doctoral candidates high quality services. I wish all the very best for AA Editorial Services."
